Dear Neighbors,
We have a meeting coming up shortly at which we need to make critical for our community
This has been a year of great upheaval in Glen Haven's history. For
some of you, it has been a shock to learn that our board, no matter
how well meaning, have run things in a manner that does not comply
with the law, our Articles, or our Bylaws.
Our friendship with these individuals should not stand in the way of
making a change to put us on the right path.
Four of us (your long term neighbors) have been nominated by at least 3 members
to run for board openings, we are Cyndy Thompson, Lou Thompson, Nancy McBride and
myself, Shauna Johnstone.
We don't know whether our names will appear on any ballot produced by the
board, but our nominations have legally been mailed to Box 44 Glen
Haven and signed.
Summarizing the backgrounds of the four of us, we have financial expertise, Real
Estate and Zoning Expertise, Government Administration and Programs Administration
Expertise as well as a knowlege and a great desire to bring us into compliance
with what is legally and morally right. We would like to be proud to say that we live in Glen Haven once more.
We want to see our community and association flourish! We need to
accumulate road funds. We need a playground for our little ones. The
pavilion needs maintenance and upkeep, and most pressing of all, our
boat ramp needs to be repaired before someone gets hurt.
We need excellent fiscal management with scheduled OPEN board
meetings. We need posted agendas and minutes so that everyone can be
apprised of the status of our community.
Are you aware that the board appointed a committee to investigate the issue
of whether the association could sue a member to enforce covenants before
this issue was even brought to light for most of us? The members of the committee
including Walter Cool and Maurice Smith (Smitty) concluded that we could NOT enforce
the covenants we could NOT win a suit to stop a member from renting out their home
short term no matter what our feelings are about it.
Did this stop the board from obtaining a money hungry lawyer with a
questionable record and pressing forward? Did it stop the board from
bending the rules numerous times to whip members into a frenzy to
pursue an unwinnable cause? It certainly did not.
Well we say the time for all this is over. Lets stop the bad
behavior, make Restraining Orders in order to protect the associations
funds unnecessary and get on with life, being friends and neighbors in
Glen Haven.
Lets' Heal.
Vote for Lou, Nancy, Cyndy and Shauna
Warmest Regards,
Shauna Johnstone

P.S. Since the Board did not as custom dictates, send out a legal
proxy form, I am attaching one here that has been used by Glen Haven
before. Please give your proxy to one of the four of us or to anyone
you feel comfortable voting in your place, before the meeting, if you
do not plan to attend.
