Shauna,
Thanks for your kind words. I love your new bulletin board but could not figure out how to post this afternoon. I would certainly appreciate it if you could post my message for me. I will try to figure out the procedure later. I look forward to meeting you too. Please feel free to stop by any time. My wife Nancy and I have the house on the corner of Marilyn and Connie (the house with the row boat in our yard).
Best,
George

Dear Mr. Forrest,
I don't believe we have met. I really look forward to meeting you. Thank you very much for this wise analysis of the situation and good suggestions. I believe we agree completely. Could I ask that you post this on the Glen Haven Bulletin Board for all to have a record? If this is inconvenient, may I post it for you?
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Shauna

Friends and neighbors,
As some of you may know, I did not sign the petition because I did not believe that the renting of any house on a short-term basis is prohibited by the Glen Haven covenants. To date, I have not heard any argument, legal or otherwise, to change my mind on this subject.
I must also mention that I am a huge fan of the Board which I think has done an outstanding job in maintaining the common property and facilities this year. I truly can’t remember the community looking better and I recognize that this is the result of considerable time and effort on the part of each Board member. I thank them all.
I have not seen all of the communication between Koo and the Board but, reading between the lines of what I have read, I can understand the frustration on both sides. I can see where Koo may have felt singled out, backed into a corner, or ignored. I can also see that the distasteful and highly personal comments made in Koo’s subsequent e-mails would not particularly engender the type of cooperation and communication he was perhaps looking for.
I have met Koo only once and found him to be intelligent and pleasant. He has built a lovely house that I think is a credit to the neighborhood. He also has some interesting ideas that we should not dismiss out of hand simply because of the words he uses to describe them (For the record, I do not read, write, or speak Cantonese and I am in awe of anyone bilingual). For example, his “bulldozers and chainsaws in the night” idea probably raised some eyebrows ☺ but I feel certain that he was just trying to express, in his own way, his desire to preserve one of Glen Haven’s best assets (i.e., the view).
I also know several of the Board members, some better than others, and I truly believe that any actions taken by them would have been taken with the honest belief that such action was in the best interests of the community, without discrimination or malice, and within their purview.
That all said, I would urge all interested parties to take whatever steps necessary to bring an end to this matter swiftly. Specifically:
1. If articles of incorporation, bylaws, covenants, or whatever require that certain information be provided to members, let’s do it. And let’s not wait for a formal request. Perhaps Shauna’s new bulletin board could be used to post such information routinely.
2. If, after reviewing the legal argument from Koo’s lawyer, Mr. Amore, any member feels that there is still a strong case against the current use of his house, by all means pursue it legally if it bothers you that much. It’s your right. I would only suggest that, regardless of the outcome, plaintiffs and defendants do not make good neighbors, and lawyers are rich enough as it is (no offense meant to my lawyer friends).
3. Koo, I also see no benefit whatsoever in any action that may harm the GHPOA, the Board, its members, or its property and facilities. Ultimately, there can only be one loser in any such fight – Glen Haven!
As highly charged as this issue has become in the last few weeks, I implore everyone involved to take a step back, pause for a moment, and hopefully stay there.
I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend down by the river and I hope to see you there.
